The foundation Alkmaar '40 – '45 has existed since 8 August 2017 and aims to tell the history of Alkmaar during the Second World War. For this we organize changing exhibitions in the former German communication bunker in the Alkmaarder Hout. Moreover, we are active on Facebook.
Although the German occupier surrendered in the Netherland on May 5 1945, it was only until May 8 that the British-Canadian troops liberated Alkmaar. We will tell the story of the British-Canadian division, the liberation of Alkmaar and the aftermath of the war.
We are opened May till October, every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, 11:00 - 17:00.
Additional opening dates coincide with the Nationale Bunkerdag, Saturday May 24, and the Open Monumentendag, Saturday September 13, van 10:00-17:00.
Entrance 3 € - Free admittance for children under 13.
